Upstox

Designed for a dynamic startup, the Upstox project transformed a 10,000 square foot space into a vibrant and interactive hub for innovation.

The startup has a lot of youngsters working for them and so the main focus of this project was on fostering collaboration and creating a space for  the youthful energy of the company to thrive.

As is common in  startup workspaces the overall design seamlessly blends functionality with a modern aesthetic. However we too care to introduce shades of individuality that makes it truly stand out from other similar spaces.

Let us start with the reception area. Its dramatic design features really make a bold first impression. Leading the charge is the visually light-oriented sleek minimalist reception desk built in concrete gray using floating base design.

The usage of words in design is usually underappreciated. But here you can see how the word “hello” in simple typography on the desk face creates a friendly, approachable vibe.

The backdrop features a rich purple textured wall treatment that provides a perfect canvas for the company’s branding.

The lighting design is particularly soothing, with two woven bamboo pendant lights adding warmth and organic texture to the otherwise modern space.

The usage of potted plants in contemporary planters and the delicate white flowers in a vase on the desk, adds a living, dynamic element to the environment.

This reception design does a good job to showcase the company’s modern, tech-forward identity while also ensuring visitors feel comfortable and welcome upon arrival.

We often talk about the water cooler area which is the space where conversations across team members happen in a corporate environment.

This ‘water cooler area ‘ is usually the pantry area in startup spaces and our goal was to create a spacious and inviting area that would encourage such interactions.

While exposed brick highlights a bit of industrial elegance, stepped seating made of warm-toned wood makes a laid-back meeting place.

We also created  semi-private work areas  complete with  custom-designed raised hardwood seats and built-in tables with purple upholstered booths taking care of the

As a firm committed to environmentally conscious design we try to consistently use sustainable materials like the terracotta bricks wherever possible.

While the industrial look is appropriate for the space, we were careful not to overdo that vibe. To balance out things and soften the aesthetic we also made sure to use plenty of greenery.

The strategically placed potted plants as well as the greenery integrated directly into the architectural elements combined to create a living and breathing workspace.

Breakout areas, like the one featuring a bold and colorful mural, provide space for informal meetings and brainstorming sessions.

The vibrant artwork reflects the startup’s energy and adds a playful touch to the office environment. Comfortable seating and variety of table arrangements offer flexibility for different types of collaborative work.

Integrated phone booths, featuring arched designs and pops of purple upholstery, provide quiet spaces for focused work, private conversations and even conference calls especially when the meeting rooms are not available.

Then we have the space for lunches and intimate coffee conversations. Here we have classic black bentwood café chairs surrounding wooden tables. Overall these come together to create an inviting dining setup that’s reminiscent of a European café.

The space is illuminated by modern globe pendant lights hanging from an industrial exposed ceiling, where HVAC ducts are painted in a matching warm tone.

A key objective was also to increase seating capacity from 150 to 250 and we managed to accomplish this through some good strategic space planning and well thought out design. And the best part – the entire renovation process, including infrastructure upgrades, was completed in just 60 days.

Our main intention with this work was to create open and interconnected spaces, bringing in a sense of flow and encouraging interaction between different teams.

The overall design lays stress on open and interconnected spaces, creating a sense of flow that encourages interaction between different teams.

To summarise we would say that the design of the Upstox office successfully balances functionality, sustainability, and a vibrant aesthetic, creating a dynamic and inspiring environment that is ideal for  the startup’s young workforce.
