The Diesel Shed at Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu is one of the most important repair centers for diesel locomotives in the Southern Railway region of India.
This shed is of key importance in the hassle-free running of both passenger and freight trains throughout south India. It was started in the 1960s and has expanded to become one of the major repair depots for diesel engines in the area.
In this project, we carried out the construction of a specialized goods platform within the Tiruchirappalli goods yard, equipped with MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) facilities and heavy-duty concrete surfaces exclusively designed for smooth goods loading and unloading operations.
The project also involved allied infrastructure development to support the Vande Bharat train services, marking a major improvement in the freight handling capacity of the facility while facilitating India’s flagship high-speed train project.
Such advances have vastly optimized the operation in the goods yard, where one can obtain rapid turnaround with a higher capacity to carry freight at the price of fulfilling today’s needs for India’s progressing railroad system.
